SGT Brud J. Cronkrite
C Company, 1-37 Armor
Born: 21 Jun 1981 in California
Died of Wounds: 14 May 2004 (aged 22) in Baghdad, Iraq
Buried: Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, California

GT Brud Cronkrite, 22, of Spring Valley, CA, died on 14 May 2004 from injuries he sustained in Karbala when a rocket-propelled grenade exploded near him during a security patrol. Cronkite’s given name, Brud, is British slang for “brother.” He enlisted in 2001 hoping to earn his sergeant stripes, in part to emulate his maternal grandfather, a career Marine who retired as a major. Cronkite was a gunner in Cobra Company, 1-37 AR, at the time of his death. He rests at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego. Please take time today to honor Brud’s memory, his selfless service and noble sacrifice. Courage Conquers and Bandits Do Not Fail Those With Whom They Serve(d)!
