The Alumni of the 37th Armored Regiment
honor the noble sacrifice, selfless service, and life
of our Sister:
Major Meagan M. McClung, USMC
HQs 1st Brigade 1st Armored Division supporting Task Force 1-37 Armor
Born: 14 Apr 1972 in Hawaii
Killed in Action: 6 Dec 2006 (aged 34) in Ramadi, Iraq
Buried: Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia
Major Meagan M. McClung, USMC, CPT Travis Patriquin and SPC Vincent J. Pomante III were all killed in an IED attack as their truck approached Combat Outpost Falcon, in Ramadi, Iraq. Team Bulldog responded to the attack with the speed and aggression, ultimately finding, fixing and eliminating the IED cell responsible for the attack. Regrettably that was cold comfort as the news of the attack rippled across the Ready First. Meagan, a USMC Reservist, was our Public Affairs Officer and sadly became the first female Naval Academy graduate to fall in combat. Travis was our legendary Brigade Civil Affairs Officer and the author the the classic:”How to Win in Anbar.” Pomante was their gunner, detailed from his artillery unit to help them in their duties. As members of the Ready First Combat Team staff they each made very significant contributions to our success defeating Al Qaeda and changing the course of the Iraq War.
